Goal 6: The Library’s collections support the strategic plan.
6.3: By 6/30/2009, create a comprehensive plan for collection merchandising and maintenance to display and circulate relevant and attractive collections that meet the needs of library customers.
What are some strategies we have for this?
A. Work to implement collection merchandising plan supported by targeted collection purchasing, space reallocation and merchandising materials
B. Implement centralized collection weeding plan, addressing condition and content as well as use
C. Use RFID to inventory and manage collections.
What are we working on?
Projects for RFID tagging materials at the Southwest Branch, Parkwood Branch and Main Libraries are set to begin in Fall 2008 with an expected completion date of Winter 2009.
Plans for the design of the South and Southwest Regional Libraries include shelving for merchandising the collection.
