Goal 7: The library's human resources support the Strategic Plan
7.1: By 6/30/08, all new staff will participate in the library's orientation program.
What are some strategies we have for this?

Every employee on their first day at the library will receive a welcoming orientation to the workplace from his or her supervisor.

All new employees will receive basic orientation, in addition to job-specific orientation, during their first week on the job.
- Develop and implement quarterly new staff orientation program.
What are we working on?
- The Library's last orientation program was developed in 1999. We are working to update it.
What has been wokring great for us?
- Individual departments and service units have their own orientations. A systemwide orientation will enhance that with general information that everyone needs to make a good start at Durham County Library.
