Goal 7: The library's human resources support the strategic plan.

 

7.2:  By 6/30/08, the library will have a staffing plan in place that allocates resources in support of the Strategic Plan.

 

What are some strategies we have for this?

  • Each goal champion for Goals 1-4 identifies staffing levels needed to accomplish objectives.
  • Identify target percentage of scheduled time for each position to be spent in direct public service; define the role and expectations of MLS-prepared librarians, etc.
  • Review existing staffing allocations and align staff with the goals and objectives of the strategic plan.
  • Temporary employees will be deployed to fill open positions prior to hiring new employees.  Review the ways substitutes are deployed and develop a plan for optimal numbers and deployment of substitutes.
  • Designate a volunteer coordinator; develop a volunteer program.
  • Coordinate staff recognition activities, including Staff Activities Committee, Staff Recognition Team, Trustees Award, Grapevine, County Employee Recognition Luncheon, etc.

 

What are we working on?

  • Currently serving as volunteer coordinator in an interim capacity, Karlene Fyffe, Library Youth Services Manager, has pulled together a group of staff who are responsible for working with volunteers. This committee is developing a database to track volunteer service and a volunteer recognition program.
