Goal 7: The library's human resources support the strategic plan.
7.4: By 6/30/10, 100% of staff will participate in the library's training program to enhance retention, promotion, and individual growth.
What are some strategies we have for this?
- Plan and deliver staff development days.
- Provide cross-training opportunities to prepare staff for advancement.
- Collaborate with community partners to deliver in-service training (for example NCCU, Duke University, Durham County, and others).
- Develop a comprehensive staff training program to develop core competencies and to support continuing education.
What are we working on?
- Twice each year all library locations are closed to give all library staff an opportunity to come together and learn together. Nov. 7 is the next scheduled Staff Development Day.
- Customer Service Training in August, 2007: 4 hours of training for all staff reviewed every aspect of customer service at the library.
